Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian-German film and television actress most well-known for her roles in movies such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Alexandra was the sole daughter of Romanian actor Valentin Platareu. at the age of 16, she had already been offered a variety of television roles including the lead role in the Downfall film Youth Without Youth Control. Following her critically-acclaimed character in the television film Der Tunnel, Alexandra went onto play more notable parts, including Adolf Hitler's secretary, Traudljunge, on Downfall. This film was nominated for an Oscar and won critical and commercial popularity. The other Oscar nominated films featuring the famous diva are The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra worked on several significant international and national productions throughout her career. The projects include British biographical film Control as well as The Dust of Time as in addition to the French history mini-series Napoleon. She also served on the jury of the Transylvania International Film Festival, as well as at the Cannes Film Festival.
